People with disabilities (with specific focus on Assistive Technologies)

As a company at the forefront of technology innovation, MindTree appreciates the benefits that technology can deliver to people with disabilities in any form. These assistive technologies are envisioned to support differently-abled people to interact better with their environment.

The foundation aims to support the development and dissemination of assistive technologies to address the needs of people with different types of disabilities – muscular, visual, hearing, mental and learning disabilities.

The initiative was launch last year with an engagement with Spastics Society of Karnataka (SSK). The foundation will also work closely with educational institutions like IITs, identify promising technologies available in their labs and help bring these technologies to the market by leveraging MindTree’s engineering capabilities and partner ecosystem.

 Primary Education

By focusing on primary education, MindTree believes that a higher impact can be achieved in building a better foundation for future. The charter provides a formal platform to execute such an initiative. We’ve been supporting schools for their infrastructure, curriculum development, employment of additional teaching staff and training of teachers.

Mindshare

Mindshare is an initiative across MindTree’s global footprint. Wherever we are on the map, this initiative will help identify specific areas where MindTree Minds can contribute to the society.

Each location is anchored by a Catalyst who will identify and connect MindTree Minds to volunteer with social sector organizations. The significant aspect of this program is that this will ensure each MindTree Mind who volunteers for this program personally interacts with the beneficiary. The objective is to share time, attention, and affection with these people to make them feel special.

The mindshare program provides MindTree minds the opportunity to interact with people who are different from those with whom we normally interact in our work life, for example, differently-abled, senior citizens and destitutes, terminally ill patients, primary school children, orphaned children, prison inmates, and children living in economically weaker localities. These people face challenges of a far greater magnitude in their real life and the program helps MindTree Minds to appreciate these challenges with their personal interaction. Along with helping the beneficiary, this experience will also contribute to the personal evolution of the MindTree Mind.

MindTree has also contributed to address the impact of various calamities across the world including the Katrina, the Indonesian Tsunami, floods in Bihar, etc.
