Under Yuva Jyothi, a Mindtree Foundation initiative in association with BEEM Rural Development Organization (BRDO), 50 students were trained in tailoring for four months. After completion of the course, sewing machines were provided to them with help from Canaan bank (Mudra scheme).
Abraham Moses and Manickavelu from the Mindtree Foundation were invited to give away certificates to the successful students and inaugurate the new BRDO training facility.
Yuva Jyothi is an attempt to promote vocational skills and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for underprivileged rural youth. Vocational training programs in tailoring, computer education, data entry, electrical wiring, motor rewinding, carpentry and plumbing have been conducted across 50 villages in Tumkur district of Karnataka.
