In Sanskrit, Sanchalana means “movement.” The program helps poor rural children with disabilities achieve mobility and enables them to carry out their activities of daily living (ADL) with minimum assistance. Mobility aids and wheelchairs have been distributed to 132 children with disabilities in Vijapura, Davangere and Mysuru districts of Karnataka. This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with The Association of People with Disability (APD).
Apart from mobility aids and wheelchairs, volunteers from Mindtree visited these places to learn about the social, economic and livelihood backgrounds of the poor disabled children. They also helped APD define project metrics and monitor project performance.
