Story of Change
The parents of Chitra* are both employed, with the father working at Hot Chips in Hyderabad and the mother as a laborer. They hail from Dharmapuri town. When they learned that their seven-year-old daughter had a congenital heart disease and a large ventricular septal defect, they were filled with fear. Due to financial difficulties, they were unable to afford the open-heart surgery needed to close the defect. However, they received financial aid from LTIMindtree Foundation through RCME, covering the cost of the surgery, which gave their daughter and them a new lease on life. They were overjoyed that Chitra was now able to engage in her day-to-day activities and play well. Before the surgery, Chitra had difficulty breathing and was not gaining weight or growing normally, but after the surgery, she no longer experienced any breathing problems and gained weight. Although Chitra has not yet returned to school, her parents are hopeful that they would review the situation in the near future.
