Story of Change
Seeta* a resident of Nemmanahalli Hadi tribal hamlet in Karnataka, has witnessed the prevalence of tuberculosis in her community for the last 15 to 20 years. The Vivekananda Memorial Hospital (VMH) at Saragur has been instrumental in treating and curing those diagnosed with TB in her hamlet. Seeta herself contracted TB despite being a local healthcare provider. However, with the help of Counsellor Mamatha and Health Facilitator Surendra, she received treatment from VMH's Wellness Committee.
In November 2022, Seeta attended an anemia and tuberculosis detection camp organized by Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) and Mindtree Foundation in her hamlet. As a result of early detection, she was able to receive treatment for her severe anemia as well, and has now fully recovered from TB. She now looks forward to leading a healthy life.
